HMD Fusion Unveiled, Takes Personalization to the Next Level

HMD Fusion introduces Smart Outfits which include a built-in ring light for taking selfies, gaming controllers, and wireless charging solutions

Modular design is the way to go and HMD is taking this seriously with the launch of the HMD Fusion which the company says takes personalization and customization to new levels.

HMD is pushing for repairable phones(Gen 2 repairability) and now the just unveiled HMD Fusion smartphone follows a modular design with upgradeable hardware which adds to their sustainability mission.

You can easily customize the HMD Fusion smartphone with what the company calls Smart Outfits launching this year with accessories that range from a ring light for selfies, wireless charging, gaming accessories, and rugged protection. These accessories can be attached via six specialized pins and HMD notes that every outfit will modify the phone’s software and hardware, unlocking fresh capabilities, unique interfaces, and improved performance.

For photography, the HMD Fusion comes with a 108MP primary camera plus a 2MP depth sensor and a 50MP front-facing camera for selfie enthusiasts.

HMD Fusion has a 6.56-inch HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and brightness peaking at 600 nits. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor paired with 8GB RAM and internal storage starting from 256GB with support for expandable storage with a MicroSD card.

It has a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast Type-C charging. Other features include 5G/4G support, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, IP54 rating, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, and Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive audio.

HMD Fusion ships with Android 14 OS and will get two years of OS updates. There are nice digital detox features HMD added in the software mentioned below.

The upcoming Fusion Outfits suite, launching later this year, includes a Flashy Outfit designed for content creators, featuring a built-in ring light for use with both the front and back camera. The company adds that the Fusion will be the first device to enable mood lighting and camera effect control through on-device controls, thanks to smooth integration with the current camera app infrastructure. The device’s six smart pins will power the Flashy outfit itself, eliminating the need for bulky cases or charging.

Another highlight is the Rugged Outfit, designed for extra protection with IP68 dust and water resistance and 5W wireless charging. For wireless charging enthusiasts, the Wireless Outfit(5W wireless charging) brings high-end technology within reach at an affordable price.

As digital detox trends gain momentum, HMD Fusion offers a unique detox mode, arriving later this year. Whether you need a break from social media or constant notifications, with bespoke app and contact blocking, detox mode allows you to tailor your digital detox to your needs, giving you more time to live in the moment without distraction.
