LG set to unveil the future of living with its Smart Home AI Assistant
LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its state-of-the-art Smart Home Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assistant at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, USA, from January 9-12. The showcase will introduce cutting-edge robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies that Kenyan consumers will, particularly, find exciting.
The star of the show, LG’s smart home AI Assistant, is a comprehensive home manager and companion that is designed to elevate users’ daily lives in alignment with the company’s “Zero Labor Home” vision. Operating as a mobile smart home hub, it connects and manages smart home appliances and IoT devices. The AI assistant is powered by Qualcomm’s Robotics RB5 Platform, which incorporates on-device AI features, including face and user recognition, and collects real-time environmental data through its built-in camera, speaker. It uses sensors to collect real-time environmental data (temperature, humidity, indoor air quality), which is analyzed by LG’s advanced AI technologies for continuous learning and integration with external information.
Leveraging autonomous driving technology with an advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, enabling independent navigation within different home setups, it autonomously patrols the home, contributing to energy conservation.
Multi-modal AI technology, integrating voice and image recognition with natural language processing, enhances the smart home AI Assistant’s ability to grasp context and intentions, enabling proactive communication. It, for example, greets users upon their return, analyzing emotions and providing relevant information or assistance in daily tasks. Its range of motions in communication is expanded by its articulated leg joints. The AI assistant acts as a pet monitor, security guard, and energy conservator, sending notifications for detected anomalies, and controlling device usage.
The smart home AI assistant will shortly be available in the Kenyan market, liberating users from mundane house chores, and establishing LG as a key player in the Kenyan smart home market.
“Our groundbreaking Smart Home AI Assistant combines cutting-edge autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to help free customers from household chores,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “A smart life solution company, LG will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.”
Visitors to CES 2024 can explore LG’s latest smart life solutions, including the Smart Home AI assistant, at the company’s booth (#16008, Las Vegas Convention Center).
