Nigerian mobility startup Treepz launches its operations in Kenya
Treepz, a Nigerian-based mobility startup that offers diverse car-renting options for its customers has announced its entry into the Kenyan Market.
The award-winning mobility company will be operating under Treepz Kenya and hopes to extend into other East African countries. Treepz was founded in 2019 and already has operations in Ghana and Uganda. Through its platform, customers can rent buses, SUVs, and trucks at friendly prices.
“We are building Treepz to make vehicle rental as easy as clicking a button. Treepz is also budget-friendly, with a wide selection of vehicles at competitive prices,” the company states.
The ride-hailing startup raised $1.2 million over the last 12 months, part of which has been used in its expansion into Kenya. The firm has also brought on board Samar Patel, a former employee of SWVL where he was Head of Transport-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service. Patel will be Treepz Kenya’s, Country Manager.
As the company kickstarts its operations in the country, it’s reported to have already signed contracts with some high-profile companies including Twiga Foods, Abacus Schools, OAK House School, and Diamond Trust Bank under its Business Treepz package.
The mobility sector in Africa has undergone rapid changes as companies seeking to disrupt the market introduce new models of operation. While traditional operators such as Uber and Bolt have maintained a stronghold across several African markets, others such as SWVL have had to exit and refocus their investments.
