Samsung is still the world’s leading TV brand, according to global research firm Omdia. This is the 16th consecutive year that Samsung has ranked top in this category, outperforming competitors in sales and performance.
This year, the company increased sales by 19.8%. Last year, Samsung sold 9.43 million QLED TVs with data indicating that 42.1% were high-end TVs which accounted for 44.9% of supersize TVs with screens 80 inches or bigger.
During CES 2022, Samsung launched a lineup of new appliances including the NEO QLED TV and lifestyle TVs such as The Frame, saying that it was gearing up for changes in consumer needs and tastes.
“Due to consumers’ content consumption preferences rapidly evolving, the increase in demand for TVs is currently being driven by internet penetration. “As more people connect their homes to the internet we are seeing more people acquire smart TVs with 4K and 8K video quality because they now have access to content streaming services,” said Samsung Electronics East Africa Head of Consumer Electronics Division, Sam Odhiambo.
YH Lee, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Electronics said that the company has recorded two consecutive years of double-digit growth despite the ongoing economic slowdown.
Samsung says it has integrated the SmartThings across its product categories, creating an inclusive ecosystem and a multi-device experience. SmartThings also empowers consumers to get the most out of their Samsung devices, as well as third-party products they may already own.
