Samsung Electronics East Africa has today unveiled its 2022 TV Lineup in Kenya including the 2022 NEO QLED TV.
The TVs were unveiled at a media event held at the Mirage Building along Waiyaki way where Samsung has a Consumer Electronics experience store. Other TVs in this lineup launched today are the Neo QLED 4K, QLED, Crystal UHD, Smart UHD, Full HD and HD Ready TVs.
Samsung had previously showcased the TVs during CES in January, and the company is now making them available for purchase locally.
“With this new lineup, Samsung aims to redefine the role of consumer electronics by creating beautifully designed, cutting-edge technology that offers not only functionality but aesthetics as well. This year’s Neo QLED TV for example has features that take the screen to new heights by providing one central hub to play, connect, work and more” said Samsung Managing Director Mr. TS Lee.
The 2022 NEO QLED TV was the main highlight of the day and comes with some interesting upgraded features.
On the video font, for example, the 2022 Neo QLED 8K TVs can upscale non-8K content (including 1080p and 4K YouTube and Netflix videos) to ensure users make the most of the higher-resolution panel. The new TVs also carry an improved 144Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals for those who love gaming, live sports, and animations in general.
Samsung says the Neural Quantum Processor 8K has 20 independent neural AI networks, each analyzing the content’s characteristics and picture quality for optimal viewing, regardless of the source. The Neural Quantum Processor 8K also scans the screen and maximizes contrast with the background by enhancing the object while keeping the background unprocessed. It works similarly to the way human eyes perceive images in real life so the object on screen stands out against the background.
The 2022 Line up TVs (now including the Crystal UHD TV range) also come with a SolarCell remote that has received an upgrade for 2022. Samsung claims it is 88% more efficient than the previous 2020 models and is now completely battery-free. It can also be charged through 2.4GHz radio frequency harvesting.
As for audio improvements, the 2022 Neo QLED 8K TVs feature a 90W 6.2.4-channel experience. We are also getting Dolby Atmos built-in to ensure you get the best audio experience from the speakers at the back of the tv.
Samsung’s Head of Consumer Electronics Division Mr. Sam Odhiambo who was also present at the event noted, “The Samsung TV has been voted the world’s best TV for 16 years now and this is something that we take pride in. There is a great deal of time and investment that goes into the research and development for each unit that we deliver and the 2022 NEO QLED is not any different. I can assure you that this is television that every Kenyan would want in their homes”
At the event, Samsung also showcased the Freestyle, its portable LED projector that is now available for purchase in Kenya for Kshs. 159,995/. The 2022 Samsung Frame TV was also showcased at the event with the highlight being its ability to turn into a piece of wall art when off.
