This Chat App Promises to Bring iMessage Support on Android, and Windows

A single app for all your messaging apps

Heard of Beeper? If not, donā€™t fret. Youā€™re not alone.

Beeper is a new universal chat app promising to unify dozens of your messaging apps. The app enables you to chat with your friends from different messaging platforms in one single place.

And in itself, Beeper is also a chat app.

The app was launched on Wednesday and currently supports 15 different messaging apps, including the most popular ones like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, and Telegram.

One of the founding members behind the app, Eric Migicovsky, who broke the news on Twitter, says the app is ā€œa single app to chat on iMessage, WhatsApp, and 13 other networks.ā€

ā€œBeen using it as my default chat client for the last 2 years and there is NO going back.ā€

Before the official launch, Beeper was called NovaChat and is making one of the craziest promises ā€“ getting iMessage to work not only on Android but also on Windows and Linux.

Eric says theyā€™re using some ā€œtrickeryā€ to make all of this possible.

Hereā€™s what the platformā€™s website says about the iMessage wizardry.

There are two ways to get iMessage to work on Android. First, one must have a Mac that isĀ always connected to the internet and install the Beeper app to act as a bridge. Or, you order a jailbroken iPhone from the team with the Beeper app installed to act as a bridge.

ā€œThis was a tough one to figure out!ā€ the website says.

But aside from the crazy promises, you wonā€™t be surprised (I believe) to hear that Beeper is not free.

The app costs $10 a month ā€“ pretty similar to your Netflix subscription — and is based on an open-source messaging protocol, dubbed Matrix.

Beeper is available on multiple platforms, including macOS, Windows, Linuxā€, iOS, and Android. The total list of apps supported for now include;

  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook Messenger
  • iMessage
  • Android Messages (SMS)
  • Telegram
  • Twitter
  • Slack
  • Hangouts
  • Instagram
  • Skype
  • IRC
  • Matrix
  • Discord
  • Signal
  • Beeper network

The platforms also say it will continue to add more apps ā€œevery few weeks.”
