Many gadgets have been introduced as this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, and ASUS is among the many brands that paraded its new gizmos. ASUS a set of new laptops across its ZenBook, VivoBook, ExpertBook, Chromebook, and TUF Gaming series. The company unveiled a total of eight new laptops that suit different use cases and various consumer needs.
The new laptops include the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582), ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482), VivoBook S14 (S435), ExpertBook B9 (B9400 vPro), Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5500), Chromebook CX9 (CX9400), BR1100 (for education) and the TUF Dash gaming laptop.
Let’s start by addressing the elephants in the room: ZenBook Pro Duo 15 and ZenBook Duo 14. The duo now includes improved hardware and polished ScreenXpert 2 software for a better user experience while multitasking.
ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582)
The new ZenBook Pro Duo 15 packs Intel’s latest 11th gen i9 processor working in tandem with NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3070 GPU.
It also includes a 15-inch 4K OLED HDR display with 93% screen-to-body ratio, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, 1 TB PCIe ® 3.0 X 4 SSD, WiFi 6, and an upgrade to last year’s secondary tilting display, the ASUS ScreenPad Plus. The ScreenPad Plus features an auto-tilt mechanism to improve readability and reduce screen glare.
The laptop has two I/O ports, all Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports.
With its massive power, the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 is targeted at content creators and enthusiasts who need a bleeding-edge specced laptop. I/O Ports include
If 15-inches sounds too big, ASUS has an alternative at your disposal: the ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482).
ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482)
The ZenBook Duo 14 also boots from Intel’s latest 11th chip and is part of the Evo platform. Intel’s Evo-certification is offered to laptops with verified real-world performance. Evo-certification guarantees good battery life, responsiveness, WiFi 6, and portability.
The UX482 includes a 14-inch FHD NanoEdge display, either Intel Iris Xe graphics or NVIDIA GeForce MX450 discrete graphics, and a secondary display with an auto-tilt mechanism.
ASUS promises 17 hours of battery life on this laptop, but I presume you know the drill with laptop screen time promises.
You can charge the laptop via a USB C port. Speaking of ports, the UX482 also includes a pair of Thunderbolt 4 USB C ports that you can help port the display to a single 8K display or two 4K displays.
VivoBook S14 (S435)
ASUS VivoBook 14 is also part of Intel’s Evo platform with the latest 11th gen Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB memory, 1 TB PCIe SSD, and Intel Optane Memory H10. It features a (you guessed it!) 14-inch panel with a 90% screen-to-body ratio.
The laptop has a Deep Green all-metal chassis and diamond-cut edges.
Available ports include Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 2.0, and a microSD card reader. S14 is also ultra-thin and only weighs 1.3kg.
ExpertBook B9 (B9400 vPro)
Despite being frinted as a business laptop, the ExpertBook B9 is also Evo-certified, promising better performance thanks to Intel’s latest 11th gen chips and better battery life.
It also has massive storage onboard up to 4TB (dual 2 TB SSDs that support RAID 0 and RAID 1).
The B9 has enhanced hardware security using Kensington NanoSaver lock built-in and an optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip to suit business use cases.
Chromebook CX9 (CX9400) and Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5500)
The CX9 and CX5 were the only Chromebook devices announced. The new laptops pack a good amount of power straight out the box, all thanks to Intel’s Core i7 11th gen processor, paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics.
The CX9 is a 14-inch Chromebook with FHD resolution, an ultralight magnesium-alloy chassis weighing less than 1kg, and several I/O ports, including Thunderbolt 4, standard USB Type-A, and HDMI. It has a fingerprint sensor onboard, and the company promises security updates every six weeks.
On the other hand, the CX5 flaunts up to 16 GB of memory, up to 512 GB SSD, 12 hours of battery life, and a microSD card slot.
TUF Dash
Wrapping up its hardware reveal at CES 2021, Asus revealed the gaming-focused TUF Dash F15 laptop. The F15 includes a 240 Hz display refresh rate with a 3ms response time to reduce motion blur.
Under the hood of the F15 is Intel’s latest 11th gen Core i7 CPU paired with NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU for better performance while gaming. ASUS pledges up to 16 hours of video playback time.
Away from the new laptops, ASUS also announced a new projector and a 14-inch FHD IPS portable monitor.
The company is yet to reveal the prices of each of the new laptops.
