Apple has confirmed the long-standing rumor about the potential delay in its upcoming flagship iPhone devices. In an earnings call, the company told investors it is expecting to ship the new iPhones “a few weeks later” this year.
Typically, Apple unveils its iPhones in September and starts shipping them by the end of the month.
“Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September, this year we expect supply to be available a few weeks later,” said Apple CFO Luca Maestri in an earnings call.
So, expect the new iPhones by October and not September.
Reports about the iPhone delaying have been moving around for some time although the company didn’t admit to them. This confirms an earlier report which suggested mass production of 2020 iPhones had been delayed by a month.
Apple didn’t delve into the details on the why, but from earlier reports, it was due to pandemic-related disruptions.
