Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 on Tuesday. Unless you haven’t been keen enough to catch the news, then that explains why you could be facing some problems with your Windows PC right now.
Windows 7 reached its end of life on Tuesday 14th, and the company has now stepped up nagging users of the old Windows OS to upgrade.
The company is reportedly displaying full-screen warnings to folks still using the retired Windows OS – unless you’re an enterprise user under the Windows 7 Extended Security Updates program.
In the warnings, the company urges users to upgrade so that they don’t miss out on important security and software updates, as well as technical support.
“Microsoft strongly recommends using Windows 10 on a new PC for latest security features and protection against malicious software,” the warning message reads.
“The notification will remain on the screen until you interact with it,” the company alerted of the plans last month.
The PCs bombarded by these notifications are those running the following editions of Windows 7; Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate and Windows seven Professional unless you have purchased the Extended Security Update (ESU).
