Even though Huawei was faced with rough times throughout the second half of 2019, the company has still been able to record an increase in revenue compared to the previous year.
The Chinese tech giant’s smartphone business still managed to record an uptick in sales volume, according to the latest report. Huawei recorded a 20% increase in smartphone sales in 2019, compared to 2018. The company managed to ship a total of 240 million smartphone units.
The firm, however, expects that 2020 will be a tough year for its smartphone business.
Huaweiās co-executive, Eric Xu, also shared some figures of the firmās revenue in 2019, accompanied in a message to the companyās employees. The company reportedly raked in 850 billion yuan, equivalent to about $121.72 billion in total revenue throughout last year. This was just $4 billion shy of the companyās initial forecast.
This represents an uptick of 18%, compared to the total revenue recorded by the company in 2018. Despite the increase in both sales and revenue, Huaweiās growth has been slowed down by a few points.
In 2019, the firmās growth was a few points shy of that observed in 2018, when the company’s annual revenue rose by 19.5%.
Most of the revenue recorded by the company was, reportedly, made in the first half of 2019. This when was when the company was still operating under good conditions before the US ban kicked in towards the end of May.
Even though the ban has not yet been lifted to date, Huaweiās growth has been associated with the patriotism of Chinese nationals.
Moving into the year 2020, Huaweiās executive, Eric XU, says the company will focus on survival.
