Netflix is working on a feature that lets you adjust playback speeds

Netflix is working on ways to let you play those boring episodes faster. In a blog post, the company says it is testing a new feature in its Android app that lets you speed up movies up to 1.5x. If you still wish to take it slow, there is also an option to slow down the playback speed of an episode up to 0.5x.

The company says, “This is a mobile only test and gives people the ability to vary the speed at which they watch on phones or tablets – choosing from normal to slower (0.5X or 0.75X) or faster (1.25X and 1.5X).”

Netflix added that the platform users had frequently requested the feature. Using this feature, the company hopes that it will help users skip the boring scenes to catch up with their favorite scenes.

Furthermore, the feature will also bring the ability to slow down fast-paced shows.

Playing at high speeds like 1.5x can immensely affect the audio. But Netflix VP acknowledges the issue, stating the app will automatically adjust the pitch of the audio, so it doesn’t sound weird.

The feature is just under testing, and the company has no plans of rolling it out publicly anytime soon.
