Huawei announced the Kirin A1 chip aimed at taking advantage of the Internet of Things era. Kirin A1 is designed to be utilized in wearables, specifically headphones.
Apart from being the world’s 1st wearable chip supporting both Bluetooth 5.1 and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) 5.1, the chip supports dual-channel connections. What that means is that the chip forwards audio to both earbuds at the same time, unlike relying on the main earphone to transmit audio to a secondary one.
With this, Kirin AI chip cuts on resultant problems caused by single-channel connections like transmission inefficiency, long delays, connection instability, and massive power consumption by main headphones.
Since using dual-channel connections comes with a disadvantage because signal transmission between the two headphones is required, Huawei relies on asynchronous transmission technology to avoid interference between the two sides.
Additionally, the chip supports TWS (True Wireless Stereo) headsets. Plus, it uses “powerful audio processing DSP (Digital Signal Processing) resulting in real-time recognition of noise and ambient sound.
Huawei Kirin A1 chip was first incorporated on Huawei’s own true wireless active noise cancellation headphones (Freebuds 3).
