Samsung Smartphones Offer the Best 4G LTE Downloads Speeds, Study Reveals

According to a recent report, it has been revealed that Samsung phones offer faster downloads speeds edging out competitors like Apple and Huawei. The research was conducted by an analytics firm, OpenSignal, in their recent report entitled “How the Smartphone Affects Mobile Network Experience.”

The report involved over 23 million devices both from Apple, Samsung, and Huawei. It was conducted in a 90-day period running from 1st April to 30th June, with over 117billion measurements performed.

Across 40 countries where the research was conducted, Samsung edged both Apple and Huawei in download speeds in 35% of the countries. Apple was ranked second, offering faster download speeds in 17.5% of the countries. In the remaining 48% of the countries, none of the devices were faster, but Huawei devices managed to be the joint-fastest in only seven countries.

The most interesting revelation from the research is the comparison of the downloads speeds between low-tier, mid-tier and high-end smartphones from different manufacturers.

Users with Samsung flagship devices lead in download speeds of up to 26.6Mbps followed closely by top-tier users with Apple and Huawei devices, respectively. Apple devices lead in download speeds in the mid-tier category, while Huawei devices delivered the fastest speeds in the low-tier range.

OpenSignal’s report also states that flagship devices generally offer faster download speeds as high as 4.3 times faster as compared to low-end devices depending on the market.

Based on this analysis, if you were planning a smartphone upgrade soon, you should consider having a look at the full report here.
