Huawei was Working on a Google Assistant Powered Smart Speaker before Trump’s Ban

Google’s ties with Huawei may be far more reaching than anticipated. The Information has revealed that the two companies had been storming on a speaker project before the Washington ban.

The company had planned to launch the smart speaker in September at the IFA trade show. The speaker, powered by Google Assistant, was set to be sold on global markets, including the US but not in China.

These could have even worsened Huawei ’s situation if it had happened before Trump’s ban since the company was under investigations for a long time.

Especially considering we are at the prime time when it has become clear that both Google, Amazon and even Apple –the least anticipated of all –hire humans to listen to your assistant recordings for ‘making their product better.’

But I guess that does not sound like an issue at this point, but letting the consumers know what they are getting themselves into is the most critical aspect –especially when the freedom to delete your data permanently is not provided.

It is no secret that these companies are merely capitalizing on their lengthy, boring privacy policies –burying the critical parts deep inside –that nobody cares to have a look.
