ASUS ROG Phone II is the Ultimate Gaming Smartphone

ASUS set new levels in the smartphone gaming industry with their first gaming-focused device launched last year dubbed ROG (Republic of Gamers). The ASUS ROG Phone 1 was big but its successor ROG Phone II is even bigger.

Asus just announced their new gaming device, which features the latest gaming-focused overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus CPU. Qualcomm’s new CPU provides a 15% improved performance over the SDM 855. ASUS ROG Phone II is not just about the internals the outward experience will send you a gaming vibe straight out of the box.

The display is just perfect for a gaming smartphone –a 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate –first of its type on the market. More so the display is a 6.59-inch panel which includes integrated fingerprint sensor plus it has support for 10-bit HDR.

To have a better battery life even when gaming, Asus has included a massive 6000mAh non-removable battery which the company claims should offer you over 7 hours of gaming time for highly resourceful games like PUBG when clocked at 60Hz refresh rate.

To juice up the battery, you get a 30W fast charger. The touch sampling rate is 240Hz and features a 49ms touch latency, which is faster than Samsung’s latest flagship –Samsung Galaxy S10+.

ROG Phone II also features three USB Type-C ports, ultrasonic pressure-sensitive “Air Trigger” buttons, 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage which makes the device even faster.

To ensure performance is at the top of the bar at all times, ASUS ROG Phone II includes a cooling vapor chamber with vents which prevents throttling of the CPU while gaming.

As a plus, there’s a clip-on AeroActive Cooler fan together with a new gaming pad dubbed Kunai which looks like Nintendo Switch inspired. It’s not yet clear on the pricing but the ROG Phone II will probably cost more than its predecessor which sold at around $899(approx. Ksh 90,000).
