Last week, PcMag claimed that their Huawei phone delivery to the US was rejected due to the on-going US government trade ban on the Chinese Company. Now FedEx has revealed they have been faced with critics and panic since they refused to ship the Huawei P30 Pro in a statement to PcMag.
FedEx has gone ahead to sue the US-government as a result. According to the filed lawsuit, it stated they shouldn’t be forced to enforce export ban rules.
“FedEx is a transportation company, not a law enforcement agency,” the lawsuit states. In a press statement, FedEx insists they comply with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) but the rules “place an unreasonable burden on FedEx to police the millions of shipments that transit our network every day.”
FedEx is itself a US-based company and will ‘remain committed to delivering outstanding service to our customers in all countries around the world’ the statement reads.
“FedEx is a transportation company, not a law enforcement agency.”
The US trade ban only restricts US-based companies trading with Huawei. However, the import of Huawei devices hasn’t been prohibited, and even companies like Amazon and Microsoft are still selling these devices.
In fact, the Huawei P30 Pro that FedEx refused to ship still sells on Amazon’s US website. Nevertheless, since the ban unfolded some Us companies have even gone ahead to try and renegotiate with the US government to loosen things up.
Google has been on the forefront, but of course, they are eyeing to retain their Android OS monopoly. Huawei had also filed a lawsuit against the US government which is to be heard on 9th September this year.
