Samsung-AMD partnership to bring AMD’s graphics architecture to Exynos chips

June 03, Samsung, together with AMD, has today announced a partnership in their chipsets for a couple of years. The partnership will see the integration of AMD’s graphics into Samsung’s Exynos mobile chipsets.

Speaking at the press yesterday Inyup Kang Samsung’s Electronics President stated: “We look forward to working with AMD to accelerate innovations in mobile graphics technologies that will help take future mobile computing to the next level.”

The partnership lets Samsung license AMD Graphics IP and focus on advanced graphics and solutions across mobile platforms, including smartphones.

The partnership will enable Samsung “to bring groundbreaking graphics products and solutions to market for tomorrow’s mobile applications,” stated Inyup Kang.

The key terms of the partnership highlighted that AMD would license graphics IP based on AMD recently announced highly scalable RDNA architecture to Samsung. Also, Samsung, as part of the agreement, will pay AMD Technologies licensing fees and even royalties.
