Telkom Kenya appoints former Safaricom Director new MD for its Mobile Division
Telkom Kenya has appointed Mr. Steve Okeyo, a former Director for Regional Sales and Operations at Safaricom as the new Managing Director for its Mobile Division. Mr. Steve Okeyo takes over from Amer Atwi, who is leaving Telkom, who has been at Telkom since 2016.
“Amer played a strategic role in Telkom’s overall turnaround, during this period, having come with a proven track record in Telco leadership, handling dynamic markets in West Africa. He led and was highly instrumental in Telkom’s rebrand from Orange, our revamped distribution network as well as our re-aligned product development strategy. In the last three years, Amer and his team have positioned Telkom as the mobile data services provider of choice.” Telkom CEO, Mugo Kibati says:
Prior to this being at Safaricom, Steve was Director for Sales Force Effectiveness at Lafarge in Paris, France, a role that involved leading a commercial change management program in 60 countries, world-wide. He was also (concurrent) a Commercial Director for the Bamburi and Hima Cement Companies. Steve built a good part of his career at The Coca Cola Company, over a period of ten years, during which he served in senior roles including that of Country Manager, Uganda.
“Steve joins Telkom at a very exciting phase, bringing with him vast experience and a proven track record in strategy, sales and operations. There is enormous opportunity at Telkom that lies ahead and Steve’s addition to the family will add to the talent pool that is geared to drive our next phase of transformation.” Mr. Kibati adds.
