Payment solutions company Tracom Services Limited has launched a youth tech academy in Kenya. Dubbed Tracom Academy, the school’s will help young people acquire viable skills in highly advanced technology in payment solutions hardware and software, get employment opportunities or become entrepreneurs.
“With the youth unemployment rate in Kenya currently standing at 22%, it is important to channel resources towards developing our human capital. The importance of ensuring quality technological education that will align with market needs cannot be belittled,” said Tracom Services Limited spokesperson Mr. Kamau Kimani.
“Our youth today have been left to do with informal employment and there are not enough institutions in the country that are offering the much needed technological know-how and this is where Tracom Academy comes in. Creating and improving young people’s skills in this area, therefore, becomes of utmost importance. Tracom Services Limited is committed to quality education for quality skills necessary for the market place.” Kamau added.
This will be the first academy of its kind that will focus on payment solutions technology-based skills including software solutions, cutting edge hardware such as POS terminals, ATMs and card printing as well as maintenance and management of these solutions. The training will be conducted by experts from Tracom Services Limited based in Kenya who will ensure to expose the young people to the best talent and technology, equipping them with the necessary skills.
The Kenyan digital and technology sector is highly vibrant and revolutionary and promises to even change more in the future as the country continues to be a preferred investment destination in Africa. The relationship between the outsourced software developer and the client is becoming more human-driven and about process, rather than being solely price-oriented and with enough technological skills for the young people locally, Kenya should soon be at par with India as a world leader in outsourced software development.
