The Nokia 1 is now selling at a reduced price of Ksh.7,999

Nokia has announced a new price for Nokia 1. The device which was launched in the country in April this year will now retail at Ksh.7,999 down from the price announced during the launch of Ksh.9,500.

The Nokia 1 is the cheapest Android smartphone yet from HMD Global. It is powered by 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor and it comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB.

Below are the Nokia 1 specs.

  • 4.5 inches, 480 x 854 px display
  • 5 MP Rear + 2 MP Front Camera
  • Memory Card (Hybrid), up to 128 GB
  • Android, v8.0
  • Dual Sim, VoLTE, 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi
  • Quad Core, 1.1 GHz Processor
  • 1 GB RAM, 8 GB inbuilt
  • 2150 mAh Battery

The device is available in Warm Red and Dark Blue and is among the Android phones offered by Nokia for every price range. The Nokia 8 and Nokia 7 Plus with their Snapdragon processors and at least 4GB of RAM are selling at Ksh.60,000 and Ksh.46,000 respectively. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 which fall in the middle with less RAM and lower performance processor, on the other hand, are retailing at Ksh.15,000 and Ksh. 20,000 respectively. The Nokia 6 (2018) is available for Ksh.25,000.

With this plan, it safe to conclude that Nokia will continue gaining its market share especially after selling a total of 16.3 million devices between July and September 2017 (This is according to analyst firm Counterpoint).

By the time of writing this article most vendors had however not adjusted their Nokia 1 prices but hopefully, they will be doing it soon.
