The Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 1 now available in Kenya.


HMD Global has unveiled three new devices, the Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018) and the Nokia 7 Plus in the Kenyan market. The devices were first unveiled to the world during the 2018 Mobile World Conference in Barcelona in February including the iconic Nokia 8110 which unfortunately was not among the devices launched yesterday.   

When these devices were first unveiled HMD’s Chief Executive  Florian Seiche said the company has sold around 70 million phones after introducing 11 new phone models over the past year. This number is expected to grow especially with the launch of this new devices.

Both devices run the latest version of Android with the Nokia 1 specifically running Android Oreo (Go Edition), a lesser version of Android build for devices with 1GB RAM or less.  

Nokia 6 (2018)

Building on the success of its predecessor, the new Nokia 6 packs even more powerful performance and great new features into a more compact, durable body. Powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 630 Mobile Platform. Nokia says the new Nokia 6 is over 60% faster than its predecessor, the Nokia 5.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Android One smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup just like what we saw on the original Nokia 7.  The phone is also the first from the company to bear the longer, more immersive display aspect ratio. The smartphone sits above the Nokia 7 in the HMD Global Nokia Android smartphone lineup.

Nokia 1

The Nokia 1 is the cheapest Android smartphone yet from HMD Global yet available for just KES.9,500. It  is powered by 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor and it comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB.
