Rebecca Miano appointed acting KenGen MD and CEO

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has appointed Rebecca Miano as its acting MD and CEO. Mrs. Miano takes over from Albert Mugo who retired from the company on August 25.  She becomes the first woman to ever hold the position since KenGen was established.

According to a notice sent out to shareholders on Friday by KenGen Board chairman Joshua Choge, Rebecca Miano takes office immediately.

Until her appointment, Rebecca Miano has been serving as the company’s secretary and legal affairs director since 2008. The outgoing MD Mugo, on the other hand, has held the top job since January 15, 2014. His tenure at the power producer ended in January this year but KenGen decided to give him a one-year extension.
