Tecno WinPad 2 Review: Your perfect ‘’Mobile Office’’ device

The Tecno WinPad 2 is the latest tablet from Tecno Mobile to be launched in 2016, a year that saw the company unveil a range of amazing devices into the Kenyan market. The WinPad 2 came just after the DroiPad 10 Pro (Read the review HERE), which I so much loved. Tecno outdid themselves with the DroidPad 10 Pro and if you thought the company was done then you were wrong.

The latest tablet, WinPad 12 shows how much the company is trying to diversify its products. Not just releasing phones but also tablets that can be a good replacement for your laptop. We got the WinPad 2 and we already did the unboxing article for you which you can read by clicking the link below.

The tablet is a complete upgrade from the WinPad and features some great software and design improvements which I will be telling you about in this review.

Design and Display

The Tecno WinPad 2 tablet features a 10.1-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixels’ screen resolution and 10 dots Multi-Touch screen. Remember the IPS display technology is commonly used in smartphones and helps to provide wide-view angles with vivid color and high brightness.  Trying the IPS on the WinPad 2 was a good move from Tecno Mobile and it works just perfect.

The tablet has a full aluminum metallic body which really compliments the WinPad 2 design. It is sleek, lightweight and can be easily carried around in one hand.

It is also designed with a portable keyboard so it’s basically your ‘’Mobile office’’. Connecting the keyboard to the tablet, you will be able to perform all the functions you could perform using your normal laptop.

Processor, Operating System, Memory and Performance

The Tecno WinPad 2 runs on the latest Windows 10 OS powered by 64-bit Intel Quad-core processor and supported 2GB RAM, 64GB ROM. With a micro sd Card slot, it can support up to 128GB. This is enough memory to store all your downloaded files like music and videos.

I have been using it in the office and I love the fact that I was able to process my emails, handle some office work working on word, excel and even making some presentations and it worked efficiently. The 64-bit architecture basically gives you enough power to easily handle these multiple tasks with lower power consumption. I did not have to worry about my battery running low while I am in the middle of something.

Tecno mobile understood the need for mobile computing by making the WinPad 2 a ‘’Mobile Office’’ device. For young professionals, the tablet tries to fill this market gap.  With its performance, the WinPad 2 actually solves a series of common problems encountered with traditional laptops. Well, I own an ASUS laptop, but I felt more comfortable using the WinPad 2, first because of the size, overall performance and battery life. With a normal laptop, you will have to worry about the bulky size, the dull design, and even poor battery. The Tecno WinPad 2 is so easy to carry and offers uncompromising computing performance.

Tecno WinPad 2 Camera

The Tecno WinPad 2 has two cameras. A 5MP rear camera with autofocus and a 2MP front camera for selfies. Well, maybe Tecno should have considered going with a better camera for the WinPad 2 but again the two cameras do not disappoint.

Tecno WinPad 2 Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the Tecno WinPad 2 supports 3G/4G LTE networks. The tablet is also equipped with 3 comprehensive USB 3.0 ports, a Mini-HDMI and Micro SD. That’s why I said earlier that with the WindPad 2 you can perform all the computing services you could do with your laptop.

Tecno WinPad 2 Battery

The Tecno WinPad 2 is equipped with a 7000mAh battery providing up to 10 hours for work or fun. This is one of the things I loved about the tablet. Usually, my laptop will take me just about 4hours full charge, I found the WinPad 2 a good alternative. I did not have to worry about running out of juice as along as my battery was at full charge.

Thoughts and Prize

The same way I loved the Tecno DroiPad 10, is the same way I loved the Tecno WinPad 2 tablet. As ‘’Mobile Office’’, the WinPad 2 offers you the same services your traditional laptop offers you. It has a cool design and is also so easy to carry around.  The display with IPS technology which we are so used to seeing in smartphones makes the device quite user-friendly too. For young professionals or executives looking for a good alternative to their laptops, the Tecno WinPad 2 is worth checking you.

The Tecno WinPad 2 is available on Jumia and other Tecno branded shops for Kshs.30,000.
