WhatsApp rolls out video calling feature to everyone
A couple of weeks ago we told you that WhatsApp was testing a video calling feature. Well, today, the company has officially confirmed that it’s rolling out the feature to all users across the globe. This means the video calling feature will now be available to WhatsApp’s over 1 billion users worldwide on iOS, Android, and Windows phones.
‘’Today we’re excited to announce the next step in our efforts to connect people – WhatsApp video calling. In the coming days, WhatsApp’s more than one billion users can make video calls across Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone devices.’’ The company said.
So how do you use the feature? Just hit the call button in the right top corner of a conversation. Doing this will bring up options asking if you want to voice or video call the person you’re chatting with. Simply select the ‘’Video call’’ option and you will be good to go.
It might be late but this is really good news for WhatsApp users. The company will now be able to capture its huge user base who might opt to migrate into other messaging and video calling platforms.
‘’…..And we want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks.’’ the company added.
WhatsApp now inches closer to be competing with rival service like Facebook’s Messenger, which recently added support for GIFs on iOS.
