Airtel Africa Executive Wins CSR Leadership Award


Airtel Africa’s Vice President for Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. Michael Okwiri was yesterday presented with the CSR Leadership Award at the Africa CSR Leadership Awards held in Mauritius.

The Africa Leadership Awards event attracted government ministers and top business leaders from across the continent.

Mr. Okwiri has been recognized for embodying the principles of CSR and involving communities.

“It is a great honor to be recognized at this continental event. This award should go to the Airtel team in our 17 operating markets who have invested their time and energy through various projects that directly impact the communities in which we operate.” Mr. Okwiri said while receiving the award

The Africa Leadership Awards, which is now in its fifth year, seeks to reward individuals and companies that have demonstrated their ability to steer their businesses through turbulent times, whilst applying the best of principles to manage and keep their missions afloat.

Commenting on the award, Airtel Africa’s Chief Executive Officer, Christian de Faria said, “We believe that sustainable CSR does not only create social change but also builds stronger  bonds with our much valued  stakeholders.”
