Kiambu County will be among beneficiaries of the expansion of the National Optic Fibre Backbone Project (NOFBI II) to be implemented before the end of this financial year.

ICT Director Douglas Gicho has confirmed this saying the expansion will cover the Kiambu metropolis in an effort to give citizens more affordable broadband connectivity which they had been promised but was delayed due to some unavoidable issues in the county government.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Thika Sub County offices, Gicho called on Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to fully support the project which he promised earlier.

Gicho said his department is happy to work with forward looking county boss who has promised to ensure every programme has been digitized.

He lauded the National Government for considering Kiambu County for the project and asked the ICT CS Fred Matiang’i to consider laying a cable on the Thika superhighway to connect the whole area of the Juja to Githurai which are far from the Thika headquarters.

The director added that Kiambu government is keen to have all key installations interconnected to ensure services could be delivered easily.
