Well, it has now happened as the messaging application has unveiled a new service that will let its more that 500 million users send messages from a Web browser.

”Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser” the company which was acquired by Facebook last year for nearly USD 22 billion said in a blog post.

”Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone” it said.

The new messaging service according to WhatsApp only works with Google’s Chrome browser currently and will not be available to iPhone users “due to  what it says Apple platform limitations,” .

To connect your web browser to your WhatsApp client, simply open https://web.whatsapp.com in your Google Chrome browser. You will see a QR code — scan the code inside of WhatsApp, and you’re ready to go.

Your phone will however need to stay connected to the internet for the WhatsApp web client to work.
