The number of of WhatsApp active users has now hit 600 million. WhatsApp’s CEO-cum-founder Jan Koum has posted on his Twitter “Now serving 600,000,000 monthly active users. Yes, active and registered are very different types of numbers…”
WhatsApp is a five-year-old mobile messaging app, which allows exchanging texts, photos, and videos. The application is likely to be purchased by Facebook for around $19 billion.
WhatsApp had announced in April that it reached half a billion users and people share 700 million photos and 100 million videos on the app in a day. When Facebook announced to buy WhatsApp, it had about 450 million monthly active users.
Last year in August, WhatsApp had 200 million users while the number doubled to 430 million in January 2014.
