WhatsApp latest update adds Group Calling for Voice and Video feature.

WhatsApp latest update will now allow group voice calls and video calls between up to 4 people.

The update will be rolled out starting this week and callers can add friends by hitting ‘’add participant’’ button at the top right corner of the screen. The maximum number of participants callers can add is four and I like the fact that WhatsApp said the calls are end-to-end encrypted.

‘’Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we’ve designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions.’’ the company said in a blog post.

This latest updates was probably one of the most requested feature since WhatsApp first introduced group voice and video calls. The features were introduced over three years ago and have really contributed to the growth of the Facebook owned messaging platform.

Today, WhatsApp boasts of over 1.5 billion monthly users with 65 billion messages being sent every day. WhatsApp says these users make over two billion minutes of voice and video calls via the platform each day. This is really huge for the company.

Other latest updates the company has introduced recently include labeling forwarded messages  which was released last month, allowing group admins decide who can post in groups and also allowing users delete messages they sent by mistake.
