Some Quick Thoughts on the Infinix HOT 10i

The Infinix HOT 10i is one of the devices we have seen from the company being unveiled this year. Infinix officially made this device available in the local market in July for Ksh 11,499.

The Infinix HOT 10i comes in two variants. There’s a 64+2 variant that Infinix is selling at Ksh 12,599 and a 32+2 variant that the company is selling at Ksh 11,499.

Infinix sent us the 32+2 variant that we have been trying out for a few weeks now. I also need to mention that there’s Infinix HOT 10 that the company launched in October last year, so don’t mistake the two.

The HOT series is one of Infinix’s most popular smartphone lineups in Kenya. This series has its major focus on the camera, and the pricing has been competitive to lure more people into buying.  The HOT 10 was selling at Ksh.14,000 and for Ksh 11,499 on the HOT 10i, what does the device have to offer?

Infinix HOT 10i Review

Infinix got it right with the design on the Infinix HOT 10i. With a 6.52″ HD Display with a punch hole, the device feels pretty small. Remember the HOT 10 had a 6.78-inch HD+ IPS LCD which was huge and I really struggled to hold it in my hand, that’s not the case with the HOT 10i. That hole punch houses an 8MP AI Super Clear Selfie Camera. The display performance is basically what you would expect in terms of brightness and colour accuracy from a phone at that price range.

At the bottom you have the USB port and the headphone port. The back is made of plastic but there’s a case in the box to help you protect the phone from scratches. It is also at the back that Infinix added the fingerprint sensor which is fast and responsive. The back camera comprises a 13MP main sensor and a QVGA sensor.

The Infinix HOT 10i is an Android 11 Go edition device which is basically a stripped down version of Android designed to run on entry-level smartphones with 2GB or less.  It is fine-tuned for devices with specific hardware configurations. The pre-installed Go apps like Google Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, and Gmail Go are all smaller in size and consume less data as well as space.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. It handles everything perfectly well. The performance is quite impressive and the phone is able to handle day-to-day tasks with no lags.

We are also getting a huge 6000mAh battery which I think is one of our favorite things about this phone. Problem is the battery makes the phone feel a little bit heavy but again it does a pretty good job. On standard use, it was able to last us almost two days. This is impressive. It is what you would expect from a bigger battery. There’s no fast charge support though but considering how long the battery was able to last us we really are not going to complain.

The Infinix HOT 10i  comes with a 13MP Dual Rear Camera. We are also getting an 8MP AI Super clear  camera for selfies. The back camera supports slow-motion video recording, time-lapse, portrait shots and can also record Full HD video at 30 frames per second.

The shots are basically what you would expect especially with some good lighting.

Infinix HOT 10i Review

In conclusion, the Infinix HOT 10 is a device we would recommend to anyone looking for a budget phone. It gets everything right and as mentioned, comes in two variants –  a 64+2 variant that Infinix is selling at Ksh 12,599 and a 32+2 variant that the company is  selling at Ksh 11,499.

Other features we are getting on the phone is the Face Unlock as well as the Fingerprint Scanner. The phone is available in some pretty good colour options – Midnight Black, Quetzal Cyan, Violet, Ocean Wave.
