Snapchat has introduced Snapchat+ that will cost $3.99/month

Social media platform Snapchat has launched a subscription service that gives customers access to exclusive features to give them more personalized options.

The service, known as Snapchat+, is expected to help diversify the company’s revenue sources, although the company isn’t banking too much on the service.

“This subscription will allow us to deliver new Snapchat features to some of the most passionate members of our community and allow us to provide prioritized support.” The company said in a statement.

Snapchat+ will first be launched in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, before rolling out in other countries.

Several social media platforms are experimenting with subscription services in a bid to widen their revenue options. Twitter debuted its Twitter Blue in Canada and Australia last year while Telegram announced a paid premium earlier in the month.

“Over 332 million people worldwide use Snapchat every day to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.” The company said, “We’ve always enjoyed creating new features for our community, and historically we’ve tested new features in different ways.”

Although the company reported good results in Q1 2022, it expressed concerns about hitting its targets in Q2 as the war in Ukraine ranges on.
