Safaricom services restored following network outage in parts of Nairobi

Earlier today Safaricom experienced a major outage of its services in parts of Nairobi leaving subscribers with no access to calls, SMS and data services.

In a statement that was sent in by Safaricom to the press, The company’s Corporate Affairs Director Nzioka Waita indicated that the outage affected subscriber services in the Westlands, Karen, Langata, CBD and Kinoo areas.

The statement further indicated that The network outage, which started at about 4.25am this morning, disrupted 2G, 3G and WiMax services and led to affected subscribers not being able to make calls, use SMS , mobile data or reach our Contact Centre for assistance. Customers who tried to pay for Nairobi City Council Parking were also affected.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the outage and thank our subscribers for the patience as we worked to resolve the issue. Safaricom engineers and technicians are busy addressing the problem, with a view to restoring all affected services within the shortest possible time,” said Waita.

However, the services had been restored as at 8:15am
