Microsoft Cloud and Oracle Cloud have on June 5th signed a new deal that will see the two companies collaborate on their cloud services. This comes a few weeks after Microsoft partnered with Sony to share its Cloud on gaming.
The partnership primarily aims at providing enterprise customers more ease and fast experience on Cloud by leveraging the interoperability. It will enable customers to have cloud interoperability making it possible to “migrate and run mission-critical enterprise workloads across” the two cloud service providers.
Enterprise customers of respective companies will be able to connect seamlessly and run services like Azure’s AI on Oracle Cloud autonomously. The shared workload between the two clouds will offer highly optimized and fast experience in return.
“With Oracle’s enterprise expertise, this alliance is a natural choice for us as we help our joint customers accelerate the migration of enterprise applications and databases to the public cloud,” said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of Microsoft’s Cloud and AI division.
Under the new joint cloud services, Oracle’s complete suite of integrated applications will now be able to run seamlessly on Azure Cloud without having to re-architect anything. This also includes secure Generation 2 infrastructure of Oracle’s Autonomous Database.
The partnership will oversee customer open to a new possibility of services offered by the two companies which include; seamlessly connection between Azure and Oracle Cloud, Unified identity and access management between the two databases and also running of Oracle’s custom apps on Azure with Oracle Databases that will be run on Oracle Cloud.
Besides, the two companies will have a collaboration in providing IT support using the already existing customer support protocols. Additionally, Oracle database will also continue to be run on Azure using Microsoft Windows and Oracle Linux Operating systems.
