Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge Browser Now Available in Beta

Microsoft’s New Edge Browser based on Chromium is now available in Beta, which is the third and final preview channel before the official debut. The browser has been in the works for quite some time now, and the open Beta means the launch is just around the corner.

Microsoft says the Beta version is the most stable preview, with all the included features thoroughly tested first in the Canary and Dev channel. So, feel free to try out the next version of Microsoft Edge in your everyday use, says Microsoft.

But that is not to say the beta version has no issues. Still, bugs may arise just like any other software.  On Beta, the company promises updates every six weeks accompanied with “periodic minor updates for bug fixes and security.”

The company is urging businesses and regular enthusiasts to try out their new Chromium Edge, and they are so confident about it. For researchers, you have a chance of bagging up to $15,000 in the bug bounty security program for this new version of Edge.

To download the new Edge browser head on to the Microsoft Edge Insider website. The browser is available for download for all supported versions of Windows and macOS.

Even though the final rollout is near, the company says they will continue contributing to the Chromium project which comprises of other browsers including Opera and Google’s Chrome. The Chromium project allows companies to work on making the web better by contributing to the project and rolling out similar features to their respective browsers.

So far, Microsoft says downloads of preview builds of Edge have crossed 1 million, and the company has received more than 140,000 individual pieces of feedback.
