5G is already going commercial in most countries especially in Africa. In countries like Kenya, telcos like Safaricom which launched 5G technology back in March have even announced that they will be launching a commercialised version of the 5G services in 2022.
What this means is that we should now start seeing a number of affordable 5G devices being unveiled in the market. Already, companies like Samsung and Nokia have some of their 5G devices selling in the market and Chinese smartphone maker Infinix seems to be jumping on this bandwagon.
Infinix apparently has a 5G device in the works according to some leaks by XDA Developers.
The phone, according to the leaks is expected to debut as a Zero series smartphone and might be called the Infinix ZERO 5G. The phone will also be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G processor, an upgrade to the recently launched Infinix Zero X Pro (Review) that runs on MediaTek’s Helio G96 chipset. It will also come with some 8 GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging
The leak claimed that the device has a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD display with a 120Hz display and a 16-megapixel camera on the front. The leaks suggest the phone will feature a 40MP primary camera with 30X zoom.
It’s not yet clear how much Infinix plans to price the device. The company has also not released the official specs but we will definitely be on the lookout for more leaks.
