BrighterMonday sets its sight on Kenya’s recruitment challenges
Job-listing site BrighterMonday has today announced a new career centre that will be used to communicate with various audiences who are either trying to enter into new careers or change their careers.
The announcement was made by BrighterMonday CEO Eva Slootweg while speaking with top human resource professionals during a breakfast meeting at Dusit Hotel in Nairobi. Slootweg highlighted that one of the main recruitment challenge in the region has either been having too many job seekers or not having enough for a position.
Slootweg described the career centre hosted on Brighter-Monday’s new website to have the capabilities of a quality shortlisting module that is used to narrow down the number of applicants. With components of skilled sourcing, workflows, candidate relationship management and data analytics, BrighterMonday says its recruitment platform keeps the pace with current shifts in the recruitment landscape which do not only focus on the candidates’ productivity and efficiency but also how best these candidates fit in the organization cultures.

According to Geoffrey Omondi, Deputy Labour Commissioner, at Ministry of Labour, Social Security & Services, the global unemployment rate is at 200 million, there is a decline in long-term jobs with elements of fundamental principles, social protection and room for dialogue incase of disputes.
From a government perspective, recruitment challenges mainly emerge from fake employment agencies, which do not conform to eligibility measures that contribute to hurt job seekers and the government is trying its level best to weed them out. “The government encourages professional and skilled agencies that understand job seekers needs and avoid those that might mislead them to clandestine operations and offering exaggerated contracts”, says Omondi.
