Equitel becomes the first MVNO in Africa to launch 5G services
Equitel announced today that it has become the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in Africa to launch 5G services.
The services have been launched in partnership with mobile network operator Airtel.
The 5G services will be available across over 370 locations nationwide, including towns such as Mombasa, Nakuru, Nairobi, Athi River, Kisumu, Kakamega, Siaya, Eldoret, and Bungoma among others.
In collaboration with the partner network, Equitel said in a statement that the 5G service will soon be extended to densely populated areas like residential neighbourhoods, shopping centres and central business districts.
Equitel, already known as Kenya’s leading mobile banking channel, offers customers unparalleled convenience, accessibility, affordability, and ease of transacting through various banking channels. Customers can send money from Equitel-to-Equitel lines for FREE as well as pay for goods and services through the One Equity Till Number at over 1 million merchants countrywide at no cost.
Additionally, Equitel through “my life” offers a platform through which customers access informative content conveniently from their phone.
