Like Firefox, Chrome will also help you dodge irritating website notifications
Recently, Mozilla announced a new version of its browser – version 72. Firefox brought new features, including a way to help you dodge those annoying website notifications.
Google is also waging war against these irritating notifications on its chrome browser. According to the company, Chrome 80 will now show you “quieter” notifications. Instead of the usual pull-down design, you will now be presented with a bell icon.
“To protect notifications as a useful service for users, Chrome 80 will show, under certain conditions, a new, quieter notification permission UI that reduces the interruptiveness of notification permission requests,” read a statement on Google Chrome’s blog.
Once Chrome 80 is out, users will have to enable the feature by themselves at first. But moving forward, however, Google says they will activate the feature automatically for those who block notifications often and on sites with meager opt-in rates.
Later this year, Google says they will implement additional measures to crack down on websites abusing the web notifications future for ads, malware, or deceptive purposes. More on this will be detailed later by the company.
Google is expected to release Chrome 80 to the public by February.
