WhatsApp latest update will now label forwarded messages

WhatsApp has now made it easier for you to identify the origin of information shared on the messaging app. The company has rolled out a new feature that will indicate which messages you receive have been forwarded to you.

A great step for the messaging platform as it will help you determine if your friend or relative actually wrote the message they sent to you or if it originally came from someone else.

‘’Starting today, WhatsApp will indicate which messages you receive have been forwarded to you. This extra context will help make one-on-one and group chats easier to follow’’ the company said in a blogpost.

This latest update is also meant to curb the spread of viral information in some countries. Remember how the platform was used to spread fake news stories during the last general elections in Kenya? Well, these are some the things the new WhatsApp update will be looking to control.

‘’WhatsApp cares deeply about your safety. We encourage you to think before sharing messages that were forwarded.’’ the company says.

The update is available for the newest version of the messaging app.
