Twitter to start sharing its ad revenues with creators

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company will start paying creators for ads that appear in their reply threads.

Musk was quoted as saying in a tweet ‘’Starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads’’

What this means is that creators whose threads attract the most ads on their replies will have a chance to earn a huge chunk of Twitter’s ad revenue.

Musk however says that only Twitter Blue Tick subscribers will be qualified for this revenue sharing if and when it is offered.

‘’To be eligible, the account must be a subscriber to Twitter Blue Verified’’ he said.

No further information was provided on how this program will be implemented but.  In November, Musk noted that Twitter will pay creators a higher proportion of ad revenues than YouTube.

Musk has been promising a monetization model for creators since his $44 billion takeover of Twitter in October. He took over the company when it was having its fair share of challenges, including low revenues and a dilapidating reputation.
