Tecno Mobile ranked among Africa’s Most Admired Brands


Tecno Mobile has been ranked among the top most Admired electronics brands in Africa. The company which is part of Transion smartphone brands secured this spot in a new report released by Brand Africa highlighting the continents best brands in 2018  across different categories.

Brand Africa is a valuation and ranking of the Best Brands in Africa. The valuation is a multi-tier royalty relief methodology that blends a brand’s financial performance and consumer admiration to create a unique index and ranking. Tecno Mobile was positioned at number 7 beating other well-known brands like Nokia, Facebook, Airtel and even Google. Under the electronics and computers category, Tecno Mobile was ranked third, Samsung and Apple take the first and second position respectively.

This is indeed a huge deal for the company which has built a name in Africa by providing affordable feature phones and smartphones. The company has also been really working hard to build its global visibility. In December 2016, it announced a new partnership with English Premier League side Manchester United to be the club’s official tablet and handset partner.   

Tecno Mobile has also been eyeing the Middle East Market by launching its recent flagship devices in Dubai.

Locally Tecno Mobile has also been conducting a series of CSR activities like partnering with Action Aid to support school feeding programs in Kajiado County and donating food and other assorted items to residents of Daaba in Isiolo County.

Tecno Mobile has a dominant market share in Six African countries namely Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Cameroon. It will be interesting to see how the company will use this latest ranking to increase its penetration in this African countries.

In the telecommunications category, Safaricom is ranked third after MTN and Airtel respectively but remains the continent’s top when it comes to Mobile Money followed  Airtel Money, PayPal and Orange Money.
