TECNO Camon 11 Unboxing and First Impressions

TECNO Camon 11 Unboxing

TECNO unveiled its latest device in the Camon series, the Camon 11 last week at an event held at the Serena hotel in Nairobi. The company actually released two devices, the Camon 11 itself and its PRO version, the Camon 11 Pro.

Remember the Tecno Camon series smartphones are usually camera-centric and TECNO always uses that as the key selling point for the device. This time around the Camon 11 comes with an AI-enabled camera and you also get a notched display.

Remember the Camon 11 is a direct successor to the TECNO Camon X and Camon X Pro that was released in April this year in the country.  The new Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro come with minor improvements over its predecessor which of course includes the camera and more.

TECNO Camon 11 Unboxing: First Impression

We got a red review unit of the and features the same Diamond Fire design similar to what we saw on the Phantom 8. The Camon 11 is made of a polycarbonate material with a weight of 158g and measures 156.65 x 75.95 x 5.6mm in dimension.

TECNO also decided to go with the Notch trend which holds the front camera, the speaker grill and its proximity sensors. The display is 6.2 HD+ full view with a 19:9 aspect ratio and an 87.5% screen to body ratio. I like the tiny bezels and small chin down below. We have seen this in most recent TECNO devices.

The dual cameras at the back with flash are well positioned at the top left. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back. The cameras are AI Powered and come with the usual modes; beauty, Bokeh, Wide selfie, Portrait, and Panorama. See some sample images below.

TECNO also added a nice case to the box which makes the phone look really good.

TECNO Camon 11 Unboxing: Performance and Software

3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage should be enough considering the pricing as well.  The CPU powering the Camon C11 is a MediaTek MT6761 system and TECNO is also using the latest version of its native HiOS (v4.1) with Android 8.1 Operating System.  The HiOs comes with new features onboard like fingerprint call recording, smoother and redefined interface, system navigation gesture, launching apps using fingerprint, ability to uninstall system apps and many more.

Well, we have the full review coming up in the coming weeks. Remember the phone is already available for purchase in retail stores for Ksh, 14,999.
