Skype for web gets new features including HD video calling and call recording

Skype has added some new features to its web app including HD video calling and the ability to record calls.

Microsft rolled out these new Skype features on Thursday and users can access them from any desktop (Windows 10 and Mac OSX10.12 or higher) with the latest versions of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

The HD video calling will allow users to experience HD in one-to-one or group video calling, and it also now allows for call reactions too. Skype added the call recording feature to Skype for mobile and desktop around six months ago, and now the feature is now available for on the web version to help you capture special moments in a Skype call with your loved ones or record important meetings with colleagues.

Skype has also updated its notifications panel that will now easily allow you to keep track of anything you might have missed. Now you can click the bell icon to see reactions to your messages, @mentions in group conversations, or if someone quoted you—all in one central place. Just click a message in the notifications panel to jump into the conversation.

Skype has also made it easy for you to find messages in the current conversation by simply typing the word or phrase you want to find in the search box. Looking for the link or photo sent a few weeks ago? The Chat Media Gallery on the updated Skype for web now makes it easy to find files, links, and photos shared in a conversation, whether it was yesterday or last month. No more scrolling through your chat history—just click Gallery under the chat name to see all the files, links, and photos in the conversation.

‘’We’re always looking for new ways to enhance the experience, improve quality and reliability, and connect people from any device. ‘’ the company said in a blog post.

In addition, to the new update Skype also released the updated MSI distributable for Skype (version 8) for Windows desktop, which replaces the existing MSI distributable of Skype (version 7) for Windows desktop.
