Samsung Galaxy Tab 6 Officially Launched- Specs, Price and Availability

Well, it is July 31st the date when Samsung had planned to launch the Galaxy Tab 6. Good news for tablet lovers is that the South Korean tech company has officially announced its new tablet.  Samsung Galaxy Tab 6 is the successor to the Galaxy Tab 4 –there was never a Galaxy Tab 5 for your information.

Samsung’s new tablet is even lighter, thinner, and faster than its predecessor. The new tablet features a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 2,560 x 1,600p resolution.

As usual, there’s always a stylus pen, a keyboard which has this time been added with a trackpad which makes Galaxy Tab 6 self-reliant on Samsung’s so-called Dex a desktop-like mode.

The stylus pen has been upgraded to be magnetic and will easily attach itself on the surface of the tablet –for charging also. Additionally, S Pen has Bluetooth support.

The device packs a 7300mAh battery, Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of internal storage or 8GB of RAM with 256GB internal, expandable storage. On the rear side, you get a dual-camera setup (13MP + 5MP ultra-wide lens).  On the front is an 8MP selfie camera.

Sorry if you still value the 3.5mm headphone jack -Samsung completely ditched it. In return, you get a USB Type C port that you can combine with a dongle to continue enjoying media-sound via your wired headphones.

For enhanced security, the tablet has a hidden optical fingerprint reader embedded in the display –like what we’ve seen with smartphones. And besides, there’s also a face unlock feature giving you variant ways to unlock your device.

The basic model goes for $649 (approx. Ksh 65,000) while the upper variant with 8GB RAM will set you back $729(approx. Ksh 73,000).

The fantastic book cover is sadly not part of the price; you will still have to throw out some more $179 to have one. Not sure when the device will be available locally but we will keep you updated should we get any information from Samsung’s local office.
