OPPO Unveils two new devices, OPPO A16k and the OPPO A55 in Kenya


OPPO has announced the availability of two new smartphones in Kenya, the OPPO A16K and OPPO A55.

The two devices will be available starting today for Ksh19,999 and Ksh25,999 respectively at all OPPO Kenya brand stores and online through Jumia, Kilimall and Sky.Garden.

OPPO says the OPPO A16k comes with a stylish design, lightweight body, upgraded hardware, and software optimizations. It runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1. to deliver what OPPO is saying an efficient, comfortable, and smooth user experience at all times.

The phone features a 6.52-inch HD+ (1,600×720 pixels) IPS LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate, and a pixel density of 269 pixels per inch (ppi). OPPO says the display is fitted with All-day Eye Care – a series of features comprising Sunlight Display, Moonlight Display and AI Smart Backlight that help ensure a healthier and more comfortable visual experience throughout the day.

OPPO A16k  is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Helio G35 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

For the cameras, OPPO A16K features a single 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It comes with a 4,230mAh battery with support for 5V/ 2A charging and features Super Power Saving Mode, Night Filters, and Optimised Night Charging.

The phone has an IPX4 rating meaning it is resistant to water splashes from any direction. OPPO  says the OPPO A16K has also been tested for durability by being put through a series of stringent quality tests, making sure that it can stand up to the demands of long-term use. Thanks to the newly added graphite sheet heatsinks, heat dissipation on A16k has also been improved, preventing the phone from overheating while streaming videos or gaming for extended periods of time.

It comes in two stylish colour finishes – Black and an all-new refreshing Blue.

The OPPO A55 features a 6.51-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) punch-hole display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 269ppi of pixel density, and a 89.2 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, along with up to 4GB of RAM and some 128GB of internal storage.

There is a triple rear camera setup at the back that comprises a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel portrait sensor for bokeh effect, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The selfie camera is 16-megapixel  paired with proprietary software features including a 360-degree Fill Light that offers a fun and interactive way to capture a clear selfie in dim environments by illuminating the display and using this as a light source.

OPPO A55 packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W Fast Charge. OPPO claims the battery life can offer users up to 29.79 hours, and play music for 24.40 hours straight thanks. 

OPPO says the A55’s design captivates, especially once combined with the available colour options. For instance, Rainbow Blue, a new turquoise-like base color made up of particles uniformly arranged into a pyramid that shifts from a blue gradient to silver, and dynamically refracts a dazzling kaleidoscope of rainbow colors akin to the Milky Way. Users can also opt for an elegant Starry Black, featuring OPPO Glow Design, with specks of triangular crystals that scintillate like stars in the night sky.
