MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset supports up to 320MP camera sensors

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset is expected to power a number of flagship devices this year. Some of these devices like the TECNO Phantom X2 have already been launched in some African countries including Kenya.

MediaTek officially announced the availability of this chipset in Kenya in December last year saying it is the most powerful and energy-efficient chip, delivering a number of industry firsts and a full suite of features for the most discerning tech enthusiasts.”

MediaTek had a fantastic 2020-2021 where the company managed to claim a number one spot with a 40% market share. The company also reported a growing 28% of 5G SoC market share committing to help increase 5G adoption, especially in Africa with affordable chipsets – this is where the new Dimensity 9000 comes in.

There’s so much to like about this chipset. With one ultra-Cortex-X2 core operating at up to 3.05GHz, three performance A710 cores operating at up to 2.85GHz, and four efficiency Cortex-A510 cores. With the integrated LPDDR5X supporting up to 7500Mbps, along with an 8MB L3 cache and 6MB system cache, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is built for the massive bandwidth demands of the mobile market.

The Dimensity 9000 is MediaTek’s latest effort in going all in with a  flagship SoC, with the designers doing all they can in terms of specifications, representing a lot of industry firsts.

One of this industry’s first is the 320-megapixel camera resolution support as well as simultaneous triple camera 18-bit HDR video recording. It also supports 4K 60fps videos and 8K 24fps videos.

‘’A flagship 18-bit HDR-ISP design gives users the first opportunity to capture 4K HDR video on three cameras simultaneously, while also assuring exceptional power efficiency. ‘’ MediaTek states on its website.

‘’Capture an event using all different cameras (for example wide, standard and zoom) for later editing, or allow livestream fans to potentially pick any camera they choose,’’ it adds.

The powerful 9Gpixel/s ISP also supports 4K HDR Video + AI noise reduction that enables the highest quality results even in extreme low-light conditions.

I am hoping to get my hands on the TECNO Phantom X2 to just experience the camera and all the other Dimensity 9000 features.

Other devices featuring this chipset include Honor 70 Pro+, OnePlus 10R, OnePlus Nord 3, OPPO Find X5 Pro Dimensity Edition, Realme GT Neo 3T, Vivo X80, Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming.
