‘Lifestage’ Facebook’s new app has been created just for teens

Facebook has released a new iOS app just for teens, more specifically, for those under 21. Known as Lifestage, the app allows teens to shoot videos and then turns those clips you recorded into a video profile others your friends can watch.

Rather than post status updates, the app lets you let the world know how you’re doing via video. Interesting, right? The app has been built for high school students to learn more about their classmates.

Here is how the app works: When you sign up, with or without a Facebook account, select your high school and you will be able to see video profiles from people at your school or from the ones nearby.

The app is completely separate from Facebook and videos are not shown to Facebook friends, but just users of the app.

The app asks you to shoot a video of yourself either dancing or with a sad or happy face. It then compiles those videos into longer videos which are then used as your main profile video. A quick swipe also lets you block and report people, too, in case anyone sketchy tries to creep on the kids.

With Lifestage, users can add a ‘Reach Me’ note to their accounts, directing others to their different social media network or app of choice for direct messages. Well, this app be Facebook’s answer to Snapchat?
