LG OLED 2021 TVs are ‘Eye Comfort Display Certified’ to reduce eye strain

One of the things that most consumers overlook when purchasing a new TV is eye comfort. Over the last few years, we have seen a number of electronic manufactures manufacturers add this feature to their devices.

Eye comfort automatically adjusts the colour temperature of your screen to reduce eye strain and this is one of the features that LG Electronics has been pushing with their 2021 TV lineup.

The new models unveiled in August this year include the OLED Evo range, QNED Mini LED TV models, Nano Cell TV series, and UHD AI ThinQ TVs.

The OLED range includes three models with 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch options. LG also unveiled a new OLED EVO panel available in Gallery Model G1 along with new models in the A1, B1, and C1 series. The LG QNED Mini LED range on the other hand includes 8K and 4K models under the QNED99 and QNED91 series, respectively.

If you worry about your and your family’s eyes, LG says its OLED TVs provide a more comfortable way to watch for longer.

They’ve been certified as low-blue light, flicker-free, and discomfort glare-free displays by international agencies TÜV Rheinland (TUV) and Underwriter Laboratories (UL). LG OLED TVs are also the first panels from any kind of TV to receive the Eyesafe® certification developed by TUV-Eyesafe.

This feature is very important considering the negative impact the blue eye has on human eyes. Too much exposure to blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina. Prolonged exposure, especially at night, can also contribute to eye health issues and potential sleep disorders.  According to Eyesafe, if your eyes are exposed to large amounts of harmful blue light for a long time, melatonin can be suppressed, leading to problems such as sleep disturbance. Children and adolescents with underdeveloped irises are particularly vulnerable to retinal damage.

So, when you watch TV, it’s important which TV you watch. Tests have found that LG OLED displays emit less blue light than LED displays. LG OLED self-lit technology with no backlight also helps reduce blue light.

You can enable the in-built Eye Comfort Mode by going to the picture settings of your TV.
