Consumers in Kenya to enjoy faster deliveries with Jumia Food Mart

Jumia Food has announced the launch of Jumia Food Mart on its platform which will see customers enjoy a record 20-minute delivery.

The deliveries will however only be for basic essentials orders like rice, milk, sugar, bread, vegetables, snacks, and personal care products.

The move according to Jumia is aimed at tapping into the increased consumer demand for faster delivery of everyday essentials. Consumers will also benefit from free delivery on Jumia Food Mart.

Last-mile delivery via micro fulfillment centers within the neighbourhood is a new concept that will revolutionize delivery times for Jumia consumers and make online grocery delivery faster than ever before. Plans call for more than 30 Jumia micro fulfillment centers by the end of 2022, with many now officially open for business.

“Jumia Food Mart is a game changer for our customers. This new offering means that you can trust us to deliver to you your basic essentials like soda, unga, or vegetables in less than 20 minutes. It means that you can order milk on Jumia as the water boils and have it delivered on time for your tea! Jumia Food Mart represents our commitment to meeting customers’ demand for everyday products at the fastest delivery time.” said Juan Seco,Jumia Kenya CEO adding that the launch is a great achievement from the Jumia Logistics team who have been working hard for many months to ensure the success of quick commerce.

Jumia has witnessed a great shift to everyday products since the COVID-19 outbreak as a result of consumers’ shifting preference toward e-commerce, and its new ‘Quick Commerce’  concept represents an important step forward in making online shopping more convenient than ever before.

The service will be available in key suburbs in Nairobi namely Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Lavington, and Westlands as the company plans to expand later across the country.
