Customers of Bolt Food are set to benefit from massive discounts of up to 40% as the company celebrates its one year anniversary.
Bolt Food, a subsidiary of the popular ride-hailing app Bolt, launched its food delivery services in Nairobi in March 2021, as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged the country, helping more people to get a meal conveniently without much interaction with restaurants.
Over this period, the platform has onboarded more than 5000 couriers and 900 restaurants serving sixty estates within Nairobi, Kiambu, Kikuyu, Ngong, Kiserian, Athi River and Kitengela.
“We are delighted that whilst we have grown our internal team, we have also contributed to creating economic opportunities for the youth in Kenya. We also celebrate the quality, responsible and convenient food delivery services we have provided in partnership with the restaurants on our platform, to many Nairobians, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic; keeping people safe and away from crowded places, and offering exciting and intense culinary experiences from the comfort of people’s homes.” Said Edgar Kipngetich Kitur, Country Manager, Bolt Food.
Bolt Food says it has incorporated electric motorbikes, e-tuk-tuks and e-bicycles as a way of countering challenges occasioned by fluctuating fuel prices while leading the way in offering sustainable and greener options for food deliveries in the industry.
“We remain focused on transforming the food delivery sector in Kenya, and we continue to invest in sustainable and innovative products that enhance quality service delivery and great customer experiences at affordable costs,” Kitur said.
Food deliver service in Kenya has rapidly grown into a competitive marketplace that has seen tech-based companies such as Jumia, Glovo, and Uber Eats jump in to grab a piece of the pie. The lockdowns and curfews occasioned by the pandemic aggravated the need for doorstep deliver services which has continued on an upward trajectory.
Bolt Food says part of its growth and sustainability strategy is continuous training of couriers to enhance high-quality service delivery. The company plans to expand its services to major cities and towns in Kenya, bringing on board more restaurants while delivering outstanding customer experience in the entire process.
